A Floral Touch for Sweet Moments
Written by Andrée Noye, adapted from Les Mauvaises Herbes

Lilac season is fleeting, but its delicate fragrance doesn’t have to be. This lilac blossom sugar is a simple way to preserve the scent of spring and infuse your kitchen rituals with floral magic.
Sprinkle it over toast, stir it into tea or lemonade, dust it on shortbread cookies, or use it to rim a cocktail glass. It’s subtle, pretty, and unexpectedly delightful.
✨ Ingredients
1 part fresh lilac flowers, cleaned and de-stemmed
2 parts organic cane sugar
Example: For ½ cup of flowers, use 1 cup of sugar.
🌸 Instructions
Prepare the Flowers. Remove all stems, leaves, and green parts—these can add bitterness. Gently rinse the blossoms if needed and pat dry.
Combine and Infuse. In a clean, dry bowl, mix the flowers with the sugar. Transfer to an airtight container and let sit for 2 to 3 days to infuse.
Blend. After infusion, blend the sugar and flowers in a food processor or spice grinder until the mixture becomes fine and fragrant. This step helps distribute the floral oils and breaks down any remaining petal texture.
Dry and Store. Spread the sugar on a baking sheet and let air-dry completely (12–24 hours). Once dry, return to a clean jar. Store in a cool, dry place.
💡 Tips & Ideas
Use lilac sugar in baking (scones, muffins, shortbread)
Add a pinch to whipped cream or icing sugar
Use it to sweeten herbal teas, especially floral or minty blends
It makes a lovely homemade gift in a labeled jar!
